This work was created by mixing permanent inks, pouring them on gessoed mat board, scattering gold dust, and then forming the image with the edge of a palette knife. It is matted and framed with a black wooden frame with gold lining.
Mary Sullivan creates "in the spirit of nature" which she experiences as boundless creativity and variety. According to Sullivan creating in the spirit of nature is a fascinating journey. A journey inspired by painter Edvard Munch's quote, "Nature is not only all that is visible to the eye . . . it also includes the inner pictures of the soul." For the past few years she has concentrated on using water media with a limited palette of permanent light fast inks or acrylics. Mary exhibits with a regional group of abstract artists, Art Beyond Tradition, and with the Art League of Hilton Head and with Maye River Gallery in Bluffton SC.
